Elizabeth Lee Taylor, AKA Betsy Taylor, earned her BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design in 1974.

Born and raised between the Rochester, NY and Finger Lakes regions, her focus was primarily drawing and graphics, specializing in figures for commercial illustration.

With a group of professional artists Betsy helped form the Earth & Arts Center in a historic stone gristmill in her village of Honeoye Falls, NY.  As it grew it reorganized as a non-profit offering art classes with a fantastic gallery to help support and enrich it, becoming Mill Art Center & Gallery.

With her cohorts Betsy taught drawing and painting, installed  exhibits, sold her works and the art of hundreds of artists.  She managed the Arts Center for 18 years until she and her husband moved to Beverly,MA, then a year later, to Hull.

You can find Betsy involved in everything Hull Artists:  on the Board of Directors; working on the committee to develop Nantasket Center for the Arts in the 1901 DCR Police Station; manning Gallery Nantasket; installing the art in the Gallery and local venues; creating graphics for posters and ads.

You can find her paintings in Gallery Nantasket, The Cohasset Senior Center, Nantasket Sweets, and in Nantasket Beach Resort.

Visit her work space in her home during Open Studios each year.

The posture is so confident --- and almost defiant --- and the brush strokes enhance it by creating a 'veil' between the gaze of the subject and the viewer.
